Learning to Learn

As discoverers we dare to question, reflect, collaborate, and share our reasoning with others.

Schools exist within larger communities.  As a new school, Academy for Discovery at Lakewood relies upon and contributes to the communities to which it belongs.  Students and their families, through an application and lottery process, choose to attend Lakewood.  Teachers choose to work at Lakewood, understanding during interviews that ADL offers new and challenging opportunities.  Those who enter Lakewood’s doors each day are members of neighborhoods throughout the city of Norfolk and the surrounding Hampton Roads area.  Finally, as an IB World School, Lakewood’s community extends across the globe.  These community connections contribute to learning for all of our stakeholders.  This blog strives to strengthen those connections and to inform community members about Academy for Discovery at Lakewood’s philosophy, purpose, and practices.
